Welcome to Lumpen Designs!

HomePadayon!Sep 8, 2005
"Lumpenproletariat (a German word literally meaning "rag proletariat") is a term first defined by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in The German Ideology (1845) and later elaborated on in other works by Marx. The term was originally coined by Marx to describe that segment of the working class that would never achieve class consciousness, and was therefore worthless in the context of revolutionary struggle."

...and so Lumpen Designs. An effort to portray the world as it is, peppered with questions and continued struggle for answers from a former lumpen.

Diogenes “Dax” Simbol is a proud father of two kids. He is married to a college instructor named Valarie. He has been writing news stories for local papers since 1998, has been a news editor for a local cable television.

His passion for photography came during his college years then taking up Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. His other passion is mountain climbing which has provided him a different perspective both for his life and his camera.

In 2006 he co-founded Tarlac’s premiere mountaineering club, the Tarlac Mountaineering Club where he is past Logistics officer and External Affairs Officer and now Training and Education Co-Chairman. Hiking has then turned into a cause-oriented activity with the initial projects of distributing school supplies to kids in far flung communities where they climb.

To date he has been the Public Relations Officer of the Photographer’s Club of Tarlac for the past two years. With the Photographer’s Club of Tarlac he was given the chance to be an exhibitor in the photo-exhibit for the Palarong Pambansa 2011 and the Ya Kulay Hen Pag-asa (Shades of Hope) a cause oriented art and photo exhibit for the Aetas in Tarlac.

His experience with the Philippine Center for Photojournalism has widen his outlook on events coverages. He has dedicated his photography and poetic skills to creating photo essays on human rights and indigenous people.

His work in progress involves the documentation of the vanishing tribe, the Abellings of Western Tarlac.
